Keep checking back for more!
I learned about your con via email from Randy Landers, and am especially thrilled that you had Harve Bennett as a guest. I owe him a huge apology for joining the naysayers back in the 80s when the prospect of an Academy setting with a young Kirk was proposed. No one knew it was Harve’s script at the time, and George Takei was among the fervent rabble-rousers. Given his hissy fits with Shatner of late we should have known better. If you know a source through which I can send a letter begging forgiveness to Harve, I would be so grateful. I wish I had known of his appearance at Farpoint – I would have moved heaven and earth to be there.
Now that I know of your existence, I’d really like to attend your event next February. My only hesitation is the time of year: I have problems with asthma in cold weather. The only cons I attend now are Dragon and Vulkons (Joe Motes has taken back control after a brief retirement). I used to be really involved in fanzines, but now I have to be content with the scifi TV and film media. I also was a zine publisher decades ago, and am working on my own web site. I still have boxes full of TREKisM at Length in my garage, and now that I’m retired I’m hoping to get back in the saddle, so to speak.
Didn’t mean to run on so long; I’m hoping there are a few dinosaurs like me around to reminisce over the days of yore.
Vel, it’s good to hear from you. We’d love to have you join us in February. February in Maryland is normally not bad during the day. The average temps are around mid 30s to mid 40s – cold but not brutally so. Our con hotel has a good restaurant and concessions that are actually good and reasonably priced, so once you arrive, you wouldn’t have to leave!
We would also be glad to forward a letter to Harve via our e-mail or snail mail addresses.
